Peak Credit Union Credit Cards
Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a credit card with no annual fee?*

Yes! Most Peak Credit Union credit cards come with no annual fee*, including our Visa® Classic, Visa® Platinum, and Share Secured Visa® cards. This means you can enjoy the benefits of a credit card — like building credit, making secure purchases, and accessing fraud protection — without paying a yearly fee.

Our Visa® Platinum Rewards card does carry a $25 annual fee*, but it offers valuable rewards points for every dollar you spend.

What fraud protection comes with Peak Credit Union credit cards?

All Peak Visa® credit cards include 24/7 fraud monitoring and NortonLifeLock™ identity theft protection*. This means your card activity is constantly monitored for suspicious transactions, and you’ll receive real-time alerts if anything unusual is detected. You can shop with confidence knowing your financial security is a top priority.

What is contactless “tap to pay” and how do I use it with a credit card?

Contactless “tap to pay” technology allows you to make fast, secure, and touch-free payments by simply tapping your Peak Visa® card at checkout. There’s no need to swipe, insert, or hand over your card — just look for the contactless symbol on the payment terminal and tap your card to pay. It’s a safer, more convenient way to make everyday purchases.

All Peak Credit Union credit cards come equipped with Tap and Go™ technology.

What’s the best first credit card for a student or young adult?

The Peak Visa® Classic Credit Card is an ideal first credit card for students and young adults who are new to credit. With no annual fee*, a low introductory APR*, and a starting credit limit as low as $250*, it’s designed to help you build credit responsibly. Plus, you’ll enjoy the same great benefits as our other cards, including fraud protection and contactless payments.

What is the minimum payment on a credit card and how is it determined?

Your minimum payment on a Peak Credit Union credit card is either 3% of your outstanding balance or $25 whichever is greater*. This ensures that you’re making progress toward paying down your balance while keeping your account in good standing. Making more than the minimum payment each month can help you pay off your balance faster and reduce interest charges.

How do variable APR credit cards work (and why do rates change)?

A variable APR (Annual Percentage Rate) means your interest rate can fluctuate over time based on changes to a benchmark rate — typically the Wall Street Journal Prime Rate. At Peak Credit Union, our credit card APRs are tied to this index and may adjust quarterly*. While your rate may change, our cards consistently offer lower than average APRs, especially compared to big banks.

Understanding how variable APRs work helps you make informed decisions about managing your credit and minimizing interest costs.

* APR = Annual Percentage Rate. All loans subject to approval. Rates, terms, and conditions are subject to change and may vary based on creditworthiness, qualifications, and account type.

Method of Balance Computation: Average Daily Balance (including current purchases)
Grace Period: 21 days
Minimum Payment: 3% of the balance or minimum $25 whichever is greater.
Late Payment Fee: Payments more than 10 days past due will be charged $20.00.
Rewards details and restrictions subject to change.

Foreign Transaction Fee - Up to 2% of the U.S. dollar amount of the foreign transaction or $0.25 whichever is greater.

The fixed introductory rate applies to new purchases posted to a new consumer Visa® credit card account for 180 days from the account open date. Your rate for purchases and unpaid balances after the 180-day introductory period will be adjusted to non-introductory rates. The fixed introductory rate does not apply to the Share Secured Visa Credit Card. Please review the terms and conditions of the account for details.

Rates are subject to change quarterly. The index is The Wall Street Journal Western Edition Prime Rate as of: February 28; May 31; August 31; November 30 of each calendar year, plus the margin. Rates are subject to change: March 10; June 10; September 10; and December 10 of each calendar year. Rates, terms and conditions are subject to change and may vary based on creditworthiness, qualifications and account type.
