The TwinStar Community Foundation awards scholarships to NWCU and TwinStar members

Congratulations to our 2025 TwinStar Community Foundation scholarship recipients!

As part of our commitment to our members and community, we are proud to provide support each year to new and continuing students by awarding college scholarships to students who demonstrate dedication to creating a positive impact in their community.

Larry Levine Memorial Scholarships

The Northwest Community Larry Levine Annual Scholarship is a memorial scholarship in the name of writer and educator Assistant Professor Larry Levine, who was killed along with eight Umpqua Community College students in 2015. The Larry Levine Memorial Scholarship assists Douglas County students attending Umpqua Community College in completing their education and developing career opportunities even in the face of challenge.

Dewey Noblitt Memorial Scholarship

The credit union administers a scholarship in memory of Dewey I. Noblitt, one of the credit union’s founders. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from William Winlock Miller High School in Olympia (Olympia High School).

With this education, I will be equipped to mentor athletes holistically—focusing on both their physical and mental well-being—so they can achieve peak performance while maintaining their overall health.”

Jack Jutte Scholarship Award

A scholarship is awarded in recognition of Credit Union Board Member Emeritus Jack Jutte. Jack Jutte retired from the Board after 24 years of service and retired as Tenino Superintendent after 18 years of service. This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Tenino High School.

JoAnne Sanford Vocational School Scholarship

In recognition of JoAnne Sanford’s dedicated service to TwinStar Credit Union, its Board of Directors and the Grays Harbor and Thurston County communities, a scholarship in her name for a vocational school student is awarded annually to an eligible member that is a high school graduate or GED equivalent and attending a vocational school. This scholarship will be awarded to the highest scoring vocational school student.

Congratulations to Joanne Killeen - North Thurston High School for receiving our 2025 JoAnne Sanford Vocational School Scholarship!

“Whether I am raising or growing food for my own friends and family or selling animals at a fair youth market sale to the public, it is meaningful to be contributing to my community by providing a healthy, well-cared for food product. As a future agriculture teacher and/or 4-H volunteer, it is my goal to encourage and support future generations of producers, hobby farmers, and gardeners.”
